65 Years ago today..........

Today is the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day landings on Omaha, Sword, Gold, Juno and Utah beaches in Normandy, Northern France. These brave soldies, sailors and airmen of Britain, USA, Canada, Poland, Norway and the free French should be remembered for the ultimate sacrifice they gave, in their lives, so that we could be free.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them.
From "For the Fallen", a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon.

It's one of those huge, enormous events that are, at the core of them, inconceivable. We know they happened, we can even read in history books what happened, but I don't believe anyone who wasn't there can really understand.
